First Moscow I.M Sechenov State Medical University

I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University is one of the oldest and the top medical universities of Russia. The university was founded in the year of 1758 as the medical faculty of Imperial Moscow University. It is the largest research medical institution in Russia boasting more than 19000 students, 226 educational programs, 15 research institutes, 9 faculties, and 2148 faculty members.

It was named as “I.M. Sechenov First Moscow Institute of Medicine” after Russian physiologist Ivan Sechenov in the year of 1955, since it was considered as the First Medical school in Russia. In 1990, the name was changed to “I.M. Sechenov First Moscow Medical Academy” until 2010. In 2010, the academy was awarded full university status and its name was changed to ” I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University” of Russia.

For almost more than two centuries, Sechenov university has consistently maintained its status and been a pioneer in the Russian healthcare system. I.M. Sechenov is more than a good university to study medicine but also a scientific society for the entire Russian Federation. In over 260 years, I.M. Sechenov university has developed into a research and resource center of Excellence for the Russian healthcare system.
