About Kazan Federal University

At 216 years old Kazan Federal University is one of the oldest public research Universities in Russia, located in the Kazan city of Russia. In its early years of foundation, Kazan Federal University was known as Kazan Imperial University until the year 1925. In 1925, the Kazan Imperial University was renamed Kazan State University after Vladimir Ulyanov Lenin, one of the famous students of the University.

In 2010, Kazan State University was granted the status of Federal University by the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation.
