Northern State Medical University is one of the oldest and most respected government medical universities in Northern Russia. Established in 1932, the university was initially known as the Arkhangelsk Medical Institute. In 1994, it received the status of a Medical Academy, and later in 2000, it officially became Northern State Medical University.

Located in the city of Arkhangelsk, Northern State Medical University is the only higher medical education institution in the European North region of Russia. Over the years, the university has gained strong recognition for providing high-quality medical education, advanced research opportunities, and practical clinical training for both Russian and international students.

The university currently has a highly qualified academic staff of around 980 members, including more than 380 professors, PhD holders, researchers, and medical specialists.
